The reward for carrying out a mitzvah – a sacred, eternal directive that comes straight from G-d – cannot be delivered adequately in this world. Nothing we receive in this world can ever truly recompense us for doing good deeds – and that is why the reward for a mitzvah in this world is the opportunity to do another.
